Erebus Motorsport V8 owner Betty Klimenko has confirmed Will Davison will be joining the team for the 2014 season. While the news has been widely known since October, it has only now been officially confirmed.
Klimenko believes that the signing of Davison will give her team a much needed boost coming into it's second season.
“Will is joining Erebus and I couldn’t be happier,” Klimenko wrote.
“He is a lovely boy, who sees the big picture.
“He understands that he is coming into a team that is still finding its roots.
“He also understands that we are not just one category, we are a motorsport company, we embrace the whole of the sport, and we want drivers and crew to be able to do the same.
“Will, like all our drivers have been, will be part of the evolution of our cars. I believe this makes for a good team.
“He understands this and this is what drew me towards him as a driver in the first place.”
Erebus Motorsport V8 will be Davison's fourth home, and fourth manufacturer since joining Dick Johnson Racing, Holden Racing Team and Ford Performance Racing. Prior to V8 Supercars, Davison came close to a Formula One drive, having tested with Minardi in 2004 (then owned by fellow Australian Paul Stoddart), as well driving in the now defunct A1 Grand Prix series for A1 Team Australia.
Davison and Holdworth will front Erebus Motorsport V8's two prong attack this year; with the third REC previously driven by Tim Slade having moved to Walkinshaw for this season.
